Background/Aims: A disease pattern is helpful information in hospital management to improve the quality of prevention, treatment and to decrease the death rate for patients. The purpose of this study is to find out the disease pattern and the result of treatment at Da Nang C hospital. Method: This is a cross-sectional retrospective study, based on medical profiles of 29,810 in-patients, conducted from 2003 to 2006. Results: In the classification of ages, the percentage of the age over 60 was highest (58.8%) and the age from 41 to 60 was 33.2%. The male patients occupied a higher percent with 55.8% and 44.2% respectively. In the resident location, most patients were from Da Nang city (89,2%). The proportion of cardiovascular diseases was highest with 16.6%, the next proportions was 19.2% in respiratory diseases, and neuro-muscular and digestive diseases had 10.9% and 10.1% respectively. The motality rate was highest in end-stage cancer (19,8%) and the second highest motality rate was cardiovascular diseases. The proportion of hospital duration from 16 to 30 days was highest with 34.3% and the next proportion was 33.0% in duration from 8 to 15 days. The curable rate was largest, being 81.3%. Conclusions: The research shows that most patients were old and retired people with the disease pattern is the same as in developing countries.
