Study of plasma D-Dimer levels in patients with acute ischemic stroke

Purpose: D-dimer is a product of fibrin degradation. Numerous studies showed that patients with various strokes had acutely increased plasma D-dimer levels. The aim of the study was to evaluate of D-dimer plasma levels within 7 days of ischemic stroke. Material and method: The study included 42 patients with acute ischemic stroke. The area level is determined by cerebral CTscan, serious evaluation of the Glasgow scale. Determine plasma D-dimer level in acute ischemic stroke. Find the relation between the plasma D-dimer - level Glasgow scale – area brain damage. Results: Mean plasma D-dimer level was in patients with acute ischemic stroke 1624.9 ± 2071.2(ng/ml). Correlation between D-dimer levels and severity of cerebral infarction with the Glasgow scale with r = -0.564, p < 0.01, y = -0.000x + 14.13. Strong correlation between D-dimer levels and lesion area, r = 0.777, p <0.01, y = 91.74 x + 0.777. Conclusion: Mean Plasma D-dimer levels 1624.9 ± 2071.2(ng/ml). Determination of the severity of acute ischemic Stroke based on level increasing plasma D-dimer.
